Migrations Graduate Fellow

Adolfho Romero is a PhD researcher in the ILR School who studies how worker centers and allied nonprofits build voice, dignity, and durable power for migrant and low-wage farmworkers.

His work examines how organizations in rural and urban regions of New York and Florida support farmworkers through leadership development, coalition building, and rights claiming, a focus shaped by his experience with the Farmworker Association of Florida. Using qualitative methods such as interviews, ethnographic observation, and document analysis, he maps the practices that turn participation into leadership and identifies what succeeds in fissured and informal labor regimes. Guided by the Power Resources Approach and related labor and migration scholarship, his current projects propose practical templates for inclusive leadership.
