Caribbean Studies Minor

Color photograph of waves

The Caribbean Studies Minor (CSM) helps you understand the region and its diaspora through an interdisciplinary program of study. Grounded in the Department of History, fulfilling the coursework in the Caribbean Studies minor will equip you to better understand the sociocultural, economic, and political forces that shape the region as well as how those forces—indigenous dispossession, slavery, capitalism—resonate globally.

Requirements

  1. 15 credits in approved coursework. (See below)
  2. At least one of the courses should be offered by the Department of History.
  3. Students must earn a B or higher in all courses counted toward the minor.

While students may earn both the Latin American Studies and Caribbean Studies Minors, no more than two elective courses may count toward both.
