Michael Hauser’s research focuses on foreign affairs and policy in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia and Singapore, with specific attention to conflict, security, economic development, and state partnerships.

Hauser is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel; Foreign Service Officer, Economics Officer, U.S. Department of State; and GS15 Civil Service Officer, U.S. Department of State. He has worked in over thirty countries and as a Military Attaché in the Foreign Service in U.S. Embassies in Jakarta, Sarajevo, Singapore, and Sierra Leone. Michael was the Head of the Industry Delegation, United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and member of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. Most recently, he was Director of Initiatives, West Point Association of Graduates.

Hauser's degrees include a BS in Engineering, U.S. Military Academy, West Point; MA in International Relations, University of Hawaii; a MEd University of Oklahoma; and an MBA, Washington University in St. Louis/Fudan University, Shanghai.
