Scholars Under Threat

Dhupa leads Cornell’s work with Scholars Under Threat, coordinating campus and community support for international scholars, students, and human rights defenders whose work puts them at risk in their home countries. Cornell has provided a sanctuary and breathing room for dozens of students and scholars, including undergraduate and graduate students, academics, writers, journalists, and artists.

Nishi Dhupa describes Cornell's investment in supporting scholars at risk of persecution in their home countries and the value these colleagues bring to campus.

Dhupa holds a veterinary medical degree from the University of Nairobi and is a Diplomate of the American Colleges of Veterinary Internal Medicine and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.

At Cornell, Dhupa was appointed to the Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, developing Cornell's first academic program in veterinary emergency and care. Subsequently she moved into administration, first at the veterinary school, then at the Einaudi Center and Provost's office.
