Charlotte (Char) Marie Chadwick

Visiting Scholar
Charlotte Marie Chadwick (Char) is a Visiting Scholar at SEAP during the Fall semester. They will be working under the guidance of Professor Arnika Fuhrmann.
Char is currently a PhD candidate at Hong Kong Baptist University in the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, supported by a Hong Kong Postgraduate Fellowship Scheme Award. Originally from Aotearoa New Zealand, Char obtained their master’s in literature (by research, with distinction) from the University of Melbourne with the support of an APA scholarship, before working as a writer, researcher and teacher in the UK and Southeast Asia (mostly Myanmar).
Char’s research interests include queer theory, world cinema, posthumanism and
globalization, and translation across different languages and media. They have also
published and performed creative work in poetry, short fiction, theatre and film. Their
current research focuses on Burmese identity, gender and sexuality in the
transnational and transregional cinematic context, particularly on Thai screens.
