Shuyuan He

Shuyuan He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Zhengzhou University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in History from Sun Yat-sen University. He once conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and his main research focus is the history of modern Chinese education.

Shuyuan He has published a number of papers on Hu Shih, the Boxer Indemnity, and educational groups, including Hu Shih and the China Education Improvement Society, Hu Shi and the Negotiations on the Return of the British Boxer Indemnity: A Perspective from an Unpublished Letter, The Tangle Between the Chinese Educational Circle and the Return of the Japanese Boxer Indemnity, The China Education Improvement Society and the China Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture, The Movement of Mourning Cai and Expelling Fu Launched by the Beijing Federation of Teachers and Staff During the May Fourth Period, and From Hope to Disappointment: The Beijing Educational Circle and Beijings Political Situation in 1922.
